\nThe Longueteau family settled in Guadeloupe as early as 1766. However, it was only at the end of the 19th<\/sup> century that Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau acquired part of the prestigious Marquisat de Sainte-Marie, which was auctioned due to the severe crisis in the sugar industry. In 1895, he bought the Habitation Espérance to transform this historic estate from a simple sugar factory into a renowned distillery. Today, François Longueteau continues this unique family tradition as he is simultaneously owner, farmer, and master distiller of the only authentic artisanal distillery in Guadeloupe.
\nLongueteau rums are made exclusively from sugarcane grown on the estate itself. The stalks are harvested at full maturity and crushed the same day to preserve the freshness and richness of the natural sugars. Fermentation lasts 48 hours and is carried out without any additives to ensure a natural and respectful process. Then, the fermented juices are precisely distilled in a 28-plate Savalle column, a traditional apparatus that extracts exceptionally fine aromas and gives each rum a unique and authentic signature.
