MONTEBELLO - 12 years - Single Cask 1999 - Barrel 186 - 40%
Montebello rum is an exceptional agricole rum crafted by the renowned Carrère distillery, located in Petit-Bourg in Guadeloupe. Better known as the Montebello distillery, this iconic house takes its name from the neighborhood where it has been established since 1975, a key reference in the world of agricole rums. Founded in 1930 by the Dolomie family, the distillery continues a family tradition of excellence. Since December 2011, Grégory and Dominique Marsolle have passionately ensured the continuity and development of this artisanal Guadeloupean enterprise.
In 2012, the Montebello distillery innovated by adopting a pioneering ecological approach, fully valorizing the residues from sugarcane crushing. The dry bagasse, this precious plant residue, is used as fuel to power the steam necessary for the operation of the presses crushing the cane, illustrating a strong commitment to sustainable development. To guarantee the premium quality of its rum, Montebello exclusively uses hand-harvested sugarcanes from the unique volcanic terroirs of Petit-Bourg, Goyave, Basse-Terre, Lamentin, and Sainte-Rose. True to its traditional know-how, the Montebello distillery is also one of the last in the Caribbean to operate steam machines for its production, giving its rums an authentic and incomparable character.
A true rarity in the world of high-end agricole rums!
