MONTEBELLO - 11 years - Vintage 1995 - 42% ABV
Montebello rum is an exceptional agricole rum passionately produced by the Carrère distillery located in Petit-Bourg, Guadeloupe, an island renowned for the excellence of its spirits. The Carrère distillery, also known as the Montebello distillery, takes its name directly from the historic district where it has been established since 1930. Founded by the Dolomie family, this traditional house preserves a unique artisanal know-how passed down through several generations. Since December 2011, Grégory and Dominique Marsolle have brilliantly ensured continuity and innovation within the family business, making Montebello an essential reference for Guadeloupe agricole rum.
The distillery is also distinguished by its exemplary ecological commitment: since 2012, it has implemented a full recycling process for the residues from sugarcane crushing. Indeed, it valorizes dry bagasse, the fibrous residue of the cane, as a renewable energy source, supplying the steam necessary for operating the presses. This eco-responsible approach fully aligns with a sustainable and environmentally respectful logic.
To produce its rum, Montebello rigorously selects hand-harvested sugarcanes from the exceptional volcanic lands of the Petit-Bourg, Goyave, Basse-Terre, Lamentin, and Sainte-Rose areas. This meticulous work guarantees the optimal quality of raw materials. Moreover, Montebello is among the last distilleries in the Caribbean to maintain the use of traditional steam machines, a technical heritage that gives its rums an authenticity and incomparable aromatic richness.
This Montebello aged rum, vintage 1995, benefits from a careful aging of 11 years in American oak barrels. This maturation time offers the rum complex and deep notes, blending finesse, balance, and power, to the great delight of exceptional spirit enthusiasts.
