MONTEBELLO - 8 years old - Vintage 2007 - 42% ABV
Montebello rum is an exceptional agricole rum crafted with passion by the renowned Carrère distillery, located in Petit-Bourg, Guadeloupe. This iconic distillery, also known as the Montebello distillery since 1975, takes its name from the historic district where it is situated. Founded in 1930 by the Dolomie family, it benefits from traditional know-how passed down through generations. Since December 2011, Grégory and Dominique Marsolle have continued the family legacy with a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability.
In 2012, the Montebello distillery embarked on an exemplary eco-responsible approach by fully recycling the "waste" from sugarcane crushing. The dry bagasse, a natural residue of the cane, is used as fuel to power the steam presses that crush the cane, thereby reducing its ecological footprint. This ecological commitment enhances the unique quality of its rums.
To produce this exceptional agricole rum, Montebello selects only hand-harvested sugarcanes from the rich and fertile volcanic terroirs of the Petit-Bourg, Goyave, Basse-Terre, Lamentin, and Sainte-Rose regions. This rigorous selection ensures an incomparable aromatic richness. Moreover, the Montebello distillery is one of the last in the Caribbean to use traditional steam machines, which gives its rums an authenticity and finesse of taste unmatched, appealing to the most discerning enthusiasts.
