MONTEBELLO - 6 years old - Vintage 2009 - 42% ABV
Montebello rum is an exceptional agricole rum crafted with passion by the renowned Carrère distillery, located in Petit-Bourg in Guadeloupe, the vibrant heart of quality rum production. The Carrère distillery, better known as the Montebello distillery, takes its name from this iconic district where it has been established since 1930, the year of its founding by the prestigious Dolomie family. A true historic player in Guadeloupean agricole rum, the distillery embodies a unique artisanal and traditional know-how in the region.
Since December 2011, the legacy has been rigorously and passionately carried on by Grégory and Dominique Marsolle, who continue to uphold excellence and innovation within this family business. In 2012, Montebello marked a major ecological turning point by adopting a sustainable approach, dedicated to the full recycling of sugarcane by-products. The dry bagasse, residue from crushed cane, is thus used as an energy source to produce the steam necessary for operating the milling machines, demonstrating the distillery's commitment to environmentally respectful rum production.
The distinctive feature of the Montebello distillery lies in its exclusive use of hand-harvested canes, sourced from the rich and fertile volcanic terroirs of Petit-Bourg, Goyave, Basse-Terre, Lamentin, and Sainte-Rose. This traditional harvesting method guarantees exceptional quality raw materials, enhanced in every drop of this agricole rum. Moreover, Montebello is one of the last distilleries in the Caribbean to operate powerful steam machines, symbolizing its attachment to authentic methods and a respected industrial heritage.
By choosing Montebello, you discover an authentic Guadeloupean agricole rum, the fruit of ancestral expertise combined with an exemplary environmental approach, ideal for connoisseurs of fine and demanding rums.
