RHUM HSE - Exceptional Single-Plot White Rum - Canne d'Or No.1 - 55%
HSE (Habitation Saint Etienne) has a rich history dating back to 1863, originally known as Habitation La Maugée. Initially, this estate was a landmark sugar factory in Martinique before Amédée Aubery transformed it into an artisanal distillery in 1882. This visionary industrialist modernized the facilities while integrating a natural energy source, the Lézarde River, which still powers the estate today and plays a crucial role in the natural dilution of sugarcane juice, thus ensuring the authenticity and quality of the rum produced.
In 1994, Yves and José Hayot took over the property following the judicial recovery of the previous owners, undertaking extensive renovations to enhance the estate. Recognized for its unique heritage, the estate is now classified as a Historic Monument, symbolizing preserved traditional craftsmanship. Saint-Etienne rum is passionately crafted in a typical Creole copper distillation column from the prestigious Distillerie du Simon, located in François, Martinique, highlighting a traditional process and mastered distillation.
This gem, the HSE Parcellaire No.1 Canne d’Or 2016, comes from an exceptional terroir, made exclusively from pure sugarcane juice of the R570 variety. The canes are meticulously cultivated on the Verger and Coulon plots of Habitation Saint Etienne, offering a white rum with rich and complex aromas, an authentic reflection of the Martinican terroir.
