Founded in 1886, Rivière du Mât is one of the oldest and most prestigious distilleries on the island of Réunion still in operation today. The Rivière du Mât Distillery takes its name from a fascinating local legend: an explorer ship that landed on the island ran aground in a riverbed, leaving its mast visible to all for several years. Located in Saint-Benoît, on the east coast of the island, the distillery produces exceptional rums from molasses derived from sugarcane plantations grown on a unique volcanic soil. This geological peculiarity, combined with the pure and crystalline water from the rivers of the East, imparts unique aromatic nuances to the fermentation and distillation processes, revealing all the richness and uniqueness of the Réunion terroir.

Opus 5 is a harmonious blend of five old agricole rums, each aged for at least 6 years in carefully selected oak barrels, offering deep aromatic complexity and remarkable elegance.
