RHUM JM - White rum - Jewel of Macouba - 51.8%
The prestigious history of JM rums begins in the heart of lush vegetation within one of the most beautiful distilleries in Martinique, located at the Fonds-Préville estate in Macouba. The first distillations were carried out as early as 1845 under the impetus of Jean-Marie Martin, who proudly stamped his initials "JM" on his rums, thus giving birth to a tradition of excellence still recognized today. At the beginning of the 20th century, in 1912, the distillery was taken over by Ernest Crassous de Médeuil and his brother Gustave, then manager and owner of the Bellevue estate. After several major improvement works, these two estates merged to form the current Habitation Fonds-Préville. Today, it is the Bernard Hayot Group that holds the majority of shares in SCA Héritiers Crassous de Médeuil, guaranteeing the continuity and reputation of this legendary house.
The sugar canes are carefully cultivated on the vast Fonds-Préville estate, which extends over 225 hectares, to ensure optimal quality of the raw material. This exceptional terroir, located on the slopes of Montagne Pelée, benefits from a unique climate and soil, contributing to the incomparable aromatic identity of JM rums. The fermented juices are precisely distilled in two traditional Creole copper columns, up to a maximum alcohol content of 72°, in order to preserve all the authenticity and aromatic richness derived from the sugar cane. Furthermore, the distillery is supplied by the pure and crystalline spring waters of Montagne Pelée, a major natural asset for the finesse of the final product.
From the 2017 harvest, Jewel of Macouba is the latest white rum produced by the JM distillery. This exceptional white rum stands out for its very expressive aromatic profile, subtly blending floral cane notes, fresh citrus accents, and delicate touches of honey. A true little "Jewel" from JM, it is bottled at 51.8%, offering remarkable intensity and purity, acclaimed by enthusiasts and connoisseurs for its finesse and complexity.
