The Longueteau family settled in Guadeloupe as early as 1766, bringing with them an ancestral tradition of sugarcane cultivation and exceptional rum production. However, it was not until the late 19th century that Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau acquired a valuable part of the Marquisate of Sainte-Marie, sold at auction following the major crisis that shook the local sugar industry. In 1895, he founded the illustrious Habitation Espérance, thus transforming the estate from a simple sugar mill into a renowned distillery, the foundation of the quality and authenticity of its rums. Even today, François Longueteau continues this heritage by leading the House, the only distillery in Guadeloupe where the owner is both a passionate farmer and an expert master distiller.

Longueteau rums are proudly made from sugarcane grown exclusively on their lands, ensuring traceability and optimal quality. The canes, harvested at full maturity, are crushed the same day to preserve all their flavors and natural aromas. A rigorously controlled 48-hour fermentation, without any additives, ensures exceptional aromatic development. Distillation is carried out in a 28-plate Savalle column, a traditional precision equipment that allows extracting the best from the cane juice while preserving its unique taste richness.
