MONTEBELLO - 14 years old - Vintage 2000 - Single Cask - Long Island - 50.6% ABV
Montebello rum is an exceptional agricole rum produced by the renowned Carrère distillery, located in Petit-Bourg in Guadeloupe. This iconic distillery, also known as the Montebello distillery since 1975, takes its name from the neighborhood where it is situated. Founded in 1930 by the Dolomie family, it embodies traditional craftsmanship. Since December 2011, the management has been passionately led by Grégory and Dominique Marsolle, who continue the excellence of this family business.
Committed to sustainability, the distillery distinguished itself in 2012 by implementing an innovative system for the complete recycling of residues from sugarcane crushing. It notably uses dry bagasse, the fibrous residue of the cane, as an ecological fuel to power the steam boilers feeding the presses. This approach reflects Montebello's strong environmental commitment.
What makes Montebello agricole rum unique is its exclusively hand-harvested cane. The canes come from the rich and fertile volcanic soils of several prestigious Guadeloupean terroirs: Petit-Bourg, Goyave, Basse-Terre, Lamentin, and Sainte-Rose. Moreover, this distillery is one of the last in the Antilles to maintain the use of traditional steam machines, ensuring artisanal production respectful of authenticity.
This Single Cask vintage 2000 has been aged for 14 years and bottled at 50.6%, offering a unique, rich, and complex tasting experience, ideal for lovers of exceptional rums.
