MONTEBELLO - Very Old Rum - 6 years - 42%
The Montebello rum is an exceptional agricole rum produced by the prestigious Carrère distillery located in Petit-Bourg in Guadeloupe. Known as the Montebello distillery since 1975, in tribute to the neighborhood where it is located, this traditional distillery was founded in 1930 by the famous Dolomie family. Today, Grégory and Dominique Marsolle continue the heritage and excellence of this family house since December 2011.
The Montebello distillery stands out for its pioneering ecological commitment: since 2012, it has integrated an innovative process of complete recycling of by-products from sugarcane crushing. Indeed, dry bagasse, the fibrous residue of the cane, is used as a natural fuel to power the steam boilers that drive the mechanical presses, thus reducing the environmental impact of production.
To guarantee incomparable quality and authenticity, the Montebello distillery rigorously selects hand-harvested canes from the rich and fertile volcanic terroirs of Petit-Bourg, Goyave, Basse-Terre, Lamentin, and Sainte-Rose. This unique terroir gives Montebello rum complex and deep aromas. Moreover, it is one of the last traditional distilleries in the Caribbean to use ancient steam machines, thus preserving a precious artisanal know-how that guarantees exceptional rums, true jewels of Guadeloupean heritage.
