BIELLE - Vintage 2008 - 10 years - 45%
The Bielle distillery, iconic and essential, is ideally located on the island of Marie-Galante, one of the most beautiful islands of the French Antilles. As early as 1769, Jean-Pierre Bielle was already cultivating coffee on this rich and fertile land. Later, in 1826, his sons founded a 53-hectare refinery-sugar plantation, firmly establishing the local agricultural tradition. However, the production of authentic rum at the estate truly began at the beginning of the 20th century, perpetuating an ancestral know-how. After World War II, the property was temporarily abandoned before being revived in 1955 thanks to the acquisition by Paul Rameaux. In 1975, the management of the property, the residence, and the distillery was entrusted to the SEDB (Société d’Exploitation de la Distillerie Bielle), which rehabilitated the whole with passion and rigor. Today, the Bielle distillery is recognized as one of the most prestigious and innovative in the French Antilles. The sugar cane used comes exclusively from small local producers, guaranteeing optimal quality and traceability. The cane juice is extracted using two traditional mills and then naturally fermented for 48 hours. The distillation is carefully carried out using three stainless steel Savalle columns, allowing the full aromatic richness and finesse of its exceptional rums to be revealed.
