LA FAVORITE - Rivière Bel Air 2019 - 53%
La Favorite is one of the last iconic independent distilleries of Martinique, alongside Neisson, recognized for its traditional expertise and authenticity. Founded in 1842 on the remains of an old sugar factory called Les Jambettes, it was renamed La Favorite in 1851, symbolizing a rich history of quality agricole rum production. In 1909, under the impetus of Henri Dormoy, a visionary owner, the sugar factory was transformed into a modern distillery, marking a decisive turning point in its evolution. Despite a temporary halt in 1938 due to family issues, the distillery was revived in 1956 thanks to André Dormoy who undertook a complete renovation, thus consolidating the brand's sustainability.
Today, La Favorite combines tradition and innovation by cultivating sugarcane on 60 hectares, while supporting small local producers who contribute to the richness and diversity of the vintages. Still operating with a historic steam engine from 1906, the distillery perpetuates unique ancestral methods. The vesou (cane juice) is obtained after a prolonged fermentation of up to 72 hours, ensuring complexity and finesse, then patiently distilled in two Creole columns, one copper dating from 1957 and another more recent from 1986, thus ensuring consistent quality and an exceptional aromatic profile.
La Favorite Rivière Bel’Air 2019 is the 4th edition of this exceptional single-varietal white rum. Made exclusively from the 2019 harvest of the prestigious Rivière Bel’Air plot, this rum is the result of a long and controlled fermentation, continuous distillation, followed by reduction and slow stirring that express all the purity and freshness of the sugarcane. On the palate, it reveals a remarkable balance with lively and zesty citrus notes, perfect for lovers of authentic agricole rum seeking finesse and elegance.
