LA FAVORITE - Coeur d'Ambre - 45%
La Favorite is one of the last iconic independent distilleries of Martinique, renowned for its ancestral know-how and commitment to quality, alongside Neisson. Founded in 1842 on the remains of an old sugar factory called Les Jambettes, it was renamed La Favorite in 1851. In 1909, Henri Dormoy modernized and transformed the old sugar factory into a true distillery. Despite a pause in activity around 1938 due to gambling-related issues involving Albert Dormoy, Henri's son, it was André Dormoy, his younger brother, who relaunched production in 1956 after a complete renovation.
Today, La Favorite continues the tradition by cultivating sugarcane on 60 hectares and also sourcing from carefully selected small local producers. The distillery still operates with a steam engine dating back to 1906, a symbol of authenticity and respect for traditional methods. The vesou, this precious cane juice fermented for up to 72 hours, is distilled in two highly efficient Creole columns: one entirely made of copper, in service since 1957; the other, more modern, dating from 1986.
Resulting from a meticulous aging of 18 months in French oak casks, the amber rum Coeur d’Ambre stands out with a rich and complex aromatic palette. Awarded and appreciated for its refined taste, it subtly blends woody notes of sugarcane, floral elegance, and smoky toasted nuances. This exceptional rum is ideally enjoyed as a traditional Ti-Punch or enhanced in refined cocktails, offering a truly unique tasting experience.
