CHANTAL COMTE - Aged Rum - 3 years - The Traveller's Tree - 53.5%
Coming from a family established in the Antilles since 1964, Chantal Comte developed a passion for the world of rum, guided by two renowned specialists, André Depaz and Paul Hayot. A former winemaker and owner of the prestigious Domaine du Château de la Tuilerie in Nîmes, she has dedicated herself for over thirty years to her unique profession as a selector of exceptional rums. Inspired by André Depaz, the iconic owner of the Plantation de la Montagne Pelée, she innovated by creating a role previously absent in the rum world: that of "whisky blender and bottler," a concept well-known in the whisky universe but rare in rum.
Chantal Comte chose to name some of her young and powerful rum cuvées "The Traveller's Tree," in homage to this emblematic tropical tree traditionally planted at the entrance of Caribbean homes as a sign of welcome and hospitality, thus symbolizing a unique sensory journey.
This exceptional cuvée comes from lot 15 located in the renowned cellars of the La Mauny Distillery. It was aged for three years in French oak barrels from the Tronçais Forest, known for the superior quality of its wood which imparts remarkable aromatic richness and smoothness to the rum. After this aging period, the rum rested for 8 months in a stainless steel tank to refine its aromas and achieve perfect balance. Bottled in October 2018, this rare cuvée is limited to only 3,000 bottles, a guarantee of exclusivity and authenticity for connoisseurs and passionate enthusiasts.
