The Longueteau family settled in Guadeloupe as early as 1766, thus embedding their roots in the sugar and agricultural history of the archipelago. At the end of the 19th century, Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau acquired part of the prestigious Marquisat de Sainte-Marie, put up for auction following the major crisis that struck the sugar industry. In 1895, he took a further step by purchasing the Espérance estate, transforming the property from a sugar factory into a renowned distillery, a pioneer of a tradition of excellence.
Today, François Longueteau continues this exceptional expertise. He is the sole owner and true craftsman of the distillation, combining the roles of farmer and master distiller. Clos des Spiritueux is proud to present these rums produced exclusively from sugarcane grown on the family lands. The harvest and crushing of the cane take place on the same day, at full maturity, guaranteeing optimal juice quality. Fermentation occurs over 48 hours, without any additives (no antifoam, acidifiers, or additives), thus ensuring remarkable purity and authenticity. Distillation is carried out precisely in a Savalle column equipped with 28 plates, a traditional process ensuring finesse and aromatic complexity.
Longueteau Genesis pays tribute to Henri Longueteau, the visionary founder of the house, and to four generations who have preserved and enriched this unique heritage. This emblematic brand stands out for its excellence and strong personality. The reissue of Longueteau Genesis comes from the red R579 canes harvested in 2017. After crushing and fermentation, the distillation reaches a high strength of 72.25°, followed by a 24-month aging in stainless steel tanks. During this period, the rum is regularly aerated and stirred to maximize its aromatic profile, giving it unmatched breadth, depth, and freshness. Bottling is done as raw column spirit (without dilution), directly at the Marquisat estate, offering enthusiasts a rum of pure intensity.
