TROIS RIVIERES - Exceptional aged rum - Unique Single Cask - Vintage 2004 - Cask 19-38 - 43% ABV
At the origin of the legendary Trois-Rivières rum, Nicolas Fouquet, superintendent of the crown's finances, obtained in 1660 a vast concession of 2000 hectares in Martinique. After his disgrace, several owners succeeded one another before the property was acquired by three sugar producers in 1770. The estate then established a distillery in 1785, under the impetus of the Marraud des Grottes family, which firmly inscribed Trois-Rivières in the history of exceptional agricole rums. Today, the distillery is managed by the Chevrillon group. Although the distillation activity was transferred to the La Mauny distillery since 2004, the famous historic distillation column of the estate is still installed there. Trois-Rivières enjoys a worldwide reputation thanks to its prestigious vintage range, appreciated by discerning connoisseurs. Among the emblematic vintages are notably 1953, 1964, 1969, and 1977, considered among the finest old agricole rums produced in the world.
This Trois-Rivières exceptional aged rum 2004 stands out as a rare and sought-after Single Cask, selected by the Cellar Master for its exceptional qualities and unique aromatic profile. More precisely, this bottle comes from cask 19-38, an American oak cask from Missouri, formerly used for aging Bourbon. This rum thus benefited from an exact 11-year maturation in this cask, which gives it unparalleled complexity and richness, before being bottled with extreme care, without cold filtration, to preserve all its integrity and aromatic depth.
