TROIS RIVIERES - Aged Rum - Single Cask - Vintage 2007 - 43%
At the origin of the prestigious Trois-Rivières rum, Nicolas Fouquet, superintendent of the crown's finances, acquired in 1660 a vast concession of 2000 hectares in Martinique. After his disgrace, many owners succeeded one another until the estate was bought in 1770 by three passionate sugar producers. In 1785, the Marraud des Grottes family established an innovative distillery on the land, a true cornerstone of local history. Today, the Chevrillon group manages this gem, even though the original distillery closed its doors in 2004: the distillation activity was transferred to the La Mauny distillery, where the famous historic distillation column of the estate is now located. The Trois-Rivières brand has established itself as an essential reference thanks to its exceptional vintage range, thus strengthening its worldwide reputation. Connoisseurs agree in recognizing in its extended vintages – notably 1953, 1964, 1969, and 1977 – the excellence of exceptional old agricultural rums.
This Trois-Rivières aged rum 2007 is therefore an authentic Single Cask, rigorously selected by the Cellar Master for its unique organoleptic qualities. More precisely, it comes from cask M2-14, a renowned French Limousin oak barrel, previously used for aging cognac. It was refined for about 8 years in this noble cask before being bottled with the utmost care, without cold filtration, in order to preserve all the richness and aromatic complexity of this exceptional vintage.
