RHUM NEISSON - Aged Rum - XO Full Proof - Batch 2 - 50.8% ABV
Founded in 1931 between the two world wars, the Neisson distillery was established by brothers Adrien and Hildebert Pamphile, also known as Jean Neisson, who acquired the La Thieulbert estate, then equipped with 20 hectares of sugarcane crops. Located in the northwest of Martinique, near Saint-Pierre and at the majestic foot of Mount Pelée, this estate is part of the island's agricultural and artisanal tradition. Adrien, the elder, initiated the establishment of a small distillery to produce an exceptional rum, while his younger brother Jean completed his studies in Paris. Passionate about rum production and armed with his knowledge, Jean simultaneously created an import-export company to market the rums in Paris. He made a major technical contribution by commissioning a specially modified Savalle column, thus optimizing the unique quality of Neisson rums.
Today, the family-owned Neisson distillery remains one of the last authentic ones in Martinique, proudly maintained by the same family. The estate continues to source exclusively from its own 40 hectares of cane, ensuring total control over the quality of raw materials and the original flavors that make this exceptional house renowned.
This exceptional rum, Neisson XO Full Proof, underwent careful aging for 8 years in ex-Cognac barrels between 2006 and 2014, followed by an additional 3 years of finishing in five 190-liter Bourbon barrels, bringing its total aging to 11 years. This double maturation method gives this complex and powerful rum rich and harmonious notes, exceptional on the palate. This limited edition is rare and precious, with only 914 bottles available worldwide.
