RHUM RHUM - Aged Rum - Liberation 2017 - 45%
Rhumrhum is one of the youngest and most innovative distilleries in the Caribbean, founded in 2006 by the prestigious alliance of major rum players: Velier, Capovilla, and Bielle. Housed within the Bielle distillery while maintaining its independence, especially for its supply of cane juice, Rhumrhum stands out through a revolutionary approach aimed at elevating its agricultural white rums among the most exceptional on the market. Indeed, their cane juices are fermented without dilution with water, unlike common practices, and benefit from a rigorously controlled fermentation process for a slow fermentation lasting 7 to 9 days, which gives their rums an intense and unique aromatic richness. The vesou is then double-distilled in two copper pot stills heated by a water bath, following Bernd Müller's exclusive method. Part of these rums is then aged in old bourbon, Burgundy, and Sauternes barrels, bringing extraordinary complexity and finesse.
This Libération 2017 aged rum 45% is part of this exceptional range. It is the reduced version but equally remarkable. This rum is made from rare and authentic sugarcane varieties, now almost impossible to find elsewhere than on the island of Marie-Galante: the red canes and B47.258. Harvested manually, these canes are transported to the distillery in ox carts, adding a touch of authenticity and terroir that contributes to the product's uniqueness. Why the name "Libération"? Because these rums are aged for nearly 7 years in oak barrels before finally being released for the greatest pleasure of discerning enthusiasts. The aging is entirely tropical, ensuring optimal maturation in a natural environment. On the palate, this rum is characterized by complex aromas of fresh citrus, fine spices, and exotic tropical fruits, offering an enchanting and harmonious olfactory experience. It is an essential collector's bottle, combining quality, history, and know-how.
