The prestigious Longueteau family settled in Guadeloupe in 1766, thus establishing a unique heritage in the world of agricole rums. Towards the end of the 19th century, Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau acquired part of the Marquisat de Sainte-Marie, which was auctioned following a severe crisis in the local sugar industry. A few years later, in 1895, he took a decisive step by purchasing the Espérance estate to transform this emblematic domain, thus shifting from the traditional status of a sugar factory to that of an excellent distillery.
Today, François Longueteau continues the family tradition, embodying the dual role of passionate farmer and master distiller in the only Guadeloupean distillery fully controlled from cultivation to distillation. Longueteau rums are made from 100% sugarcane grown on site, harvested and crushed the same day at full maturity. Fermentation takes place over 48 hours with full respect for naturalness – no additives, antifoams, acidifiers, or chemicals – ensuring pure cane juice. Distillation, carried out in a Savalle column with 28 plates, finely extracts the quintessence of this exceptional terroir.
Longueteau Genesis pays a vibrant tribute to Henri Longueteau, the visionary founder of the house, as well as to the four successive generations who have preserved and enhanced the ancestral know-how. This iconic symbol of Guadeloupe agricole rum comes from the meticulous harvest of red canes (variety R579) from the 2015 vintage. Its crushing and controlled fermentation are followed by a powerful distillation at 73.51°, then a long rest in stainless steel tanks for 24 months. During this period, the rum is regularly aerated and stirred to develop a rich, ample, and complex aromatic profile, blending vegetal freshness with subtle fruitiness. Bottled at cask strength, without any reduction or filtration, it offers an authentic and intense experience directly from the Marquisat Estate.
