AOC Martinique – Exceptional Agricultural Rum
The prestigious journey of JM rums begins in the heart of lush tropical vegetation, in one of the most beautiful distilleries in Martinique, located at Habitation Fonds-Préville, in Macouba. The first distillations were carried out in 1845 under the impetus of Jean-Marie Martin, the emblematic founder who signs his creations with his initials "JM", thus giving birth to a range of agricultural rums renowned worldwide. At the beginning of the 20th century, in 1912, the distillery passed into the hands of Ernest Crassous de Médeuil and his brother Gustave, former manager and owner of Habitation Bellevue. Thanks to several improvements and a sustainable vision, the two estates merged to become Habitation Fonds-Préville, now majority-owned by the Bernard Hayot Group through SCA Héritiers Crassous de Médeuil.
The sugar canes used are exclusively grown on the exceptional Fonds-Préville estate, covering 225 hectares on the volcanic slopes of Montagne Pelée. This unique terroir gives the raw materials an incomparable quality and an aromatic richness typical of Martinican agricultural rum. The fermentation of the juices is carefully controlled before being distilled in two traditional Creole copper columns, reaching a maximum alcohol degree of 72°, thus guaranteeing the perfect preservation of the natural and authentic aromas of the sugar cane. The distillery is powered by pure and crystalline waters from the springs of Montagne Pelée, ensuring environmentally respectful production and terroir preservation.
