RUM NEISSON - Aged Rum - Neisson XO Rum - Full Proof - 54.2%
The Neisson house was founded during the interwar period in 1931, when brothers Adrien and Hildebert Pamphile, nicknamed Jean Neisson, acquired the La Thieulbert estate, which then had 20 hectares of sugar cane plantations. Located in the northwest of the island of Martinique, near Saint-Pierre, at the foot of Mount Pelée, the elder Adrien began the creation of a small distillery while his younger brother Jean completed his studies in Paris. While the elder dedicated himself to rum production in Martinique, the younger founded an import-export company after his studies and began marketing the rums in Paris. Driven by a true passion for production, he made use of his years of apprenticeship by ordering a Savalle column modified according to his instructions, thus optimizing the quality of the rums produced.
Even today, the Neisson family runs this family distillery, one of the last in Martinique, perpetuating a unique know-how. The house uses exclusively the canes from its own plantations, extending over 40 carefully maintained hectares.
This Neisson XO rum was bottled at Full Proof at 54.2%, which guarantees exceptional aromatic intensity. For this vintage, the rum underwent an initial aging in cognac barrels starting from March 25, 2006, before being transferred in October 2014 into Bourbon barrels. In total, 5 barrels of 190 liters were used before bottling, which took place on July 28, 2017. This double aging of 11 years undoubtedly gives this XO rum all its elegance, complexity, and remarkable balance.
Purchase limited to two bottles.
