BIELLE - Aged Rum - Vintage 2005 - 45%
Bielle is located on the paradisiacal island of Marie Galante, also known as the island of 100 mills, a gem of the French Antilles recognized for the exceptional quality of its terroir. The prestigious history of Bielle begins in 1769 with Jean-Pierre Bielle, who originally cultivated coffee. In 1826, his sons joined forces to establish a 53-hectare refinery-sugar factory. It was at the beginning of the 20th century that rum production truly started on the estate. The property changed hands several times, and in 1935, Félix Bicoto built the main house, which remains a historic emblem. After World War II, the estate fell dormant until 1956, when it was acquired by Paul Rameaux. However, it was under the impetus of his ambitious young engineer great-nephew Dominique Thierry that, in 40 years, the Bielle Distillery rose among the most prestigious in the French Antilles.
The quality of Bielle relies on meticulous cultivation of sugar cane, sourced both from the estate and from small local producers faithful to traditional methods, some still using the cabrouet (ox cart) for transporting the harvest. At the distillery, two traditional mills extract the cane juices, fermented for 48 hours before being distilled in three stainless steel Savalle columns, ensuring exceptional aromatic purity. The rum is then bottled either at the historical strength of 59°, or patiently aged in cellars to develop its full aromatic richness.
Bielle reveals a new gem with this aged rum vintage 2005, a true treasure resulting from a careful 10-year aging in Bourbon barrels. This exceptional rum unveils a deep and complex aromatic palette, reflecting an excellent know-how passed down from generation to generation. Each bottle is presented in a sumptuous decanter, an elegant signature of the brand, a symbol of refinement both in content and container, a must-have for connoisseurs and lovers of rare spirits.
