RHUM HSE - Aged Rum - Small Cask - Vintage 2007 - Numbered Bottle - 46% ABV
AOC Martinique - Exceptional agricole rum
The La Maugée estate, renamed Saint-Etienne in 1863, has evolved over the decades from a sugar factory to an exceptional distillery. This crucial change occurred in 1882 when Amédée Aubery, a young visionary industrialist, acquired it and modernized all the buildings. Thanks to the Lézarde river, which runs through the property and still provides the energy needed to dilute the cane juices, the distillation benefits from a unique natural environment. In 1994, the Hayot family (Yves and José) acquired the estate after a judicial recovery, initiating extensive renovation works to preserve this emblematic Martinique site, classified as a Historic Monument. The distillation column was transferred to Simon, marking a new era in production. The Saint-Etienne brand then became Clos des Spiritueux (formerly known as HSE for Habitation Saint-Etienne), a symbol of quality and tradition.
This Small Cask vintage 2007 signed by Clos des Spiritueux stands out for its unique aging in small 55-liter Limousin oak barrels, much smaller than the classic 200-liter standards. This method gives the rum increased exposure to wood, revealing intensely rich and complex aromas with remarkable aromatic depth. This meticulous aging produces a high-end agricole rum, ideal for discerning enthusiasts seeking an unparalleled sensory experience.
