RHUM DEPAZ - Aged - Vintage 2002 - 45%
The prestigious Depaz distillery traces its origins to the heart of the La Montagne estate, established in Saint-Pierre near the majestic Montagne Pelée. Founded in 1651 under the visionary leadership of Jacques Duparquet, the first governor of the island of Martinique, this iconic distillery represents a unique historical and cultural heritage. The Depaz house takes its name from Victor Depaz, whose family upheld a long tradition in rum production, true local figures until the tragedy of 1902. During the devastating eruption of Montagne Pelée, all perished except Victor, then a student in Bordeaux, who became an orphan. Fifteen years later, driven by a will to revive and a deep attachment to his roots, he undertook to rebuild the Habitation Périnelle, faithful to the original architecture. Today, the Depaz distillery enjoys worldwide renown thanks to the exceptional quality of its rums, made from sugarcane grown on mineral-rich volcanic soil and water of remarkable purity. Rooted in ancestral traditions, Depaz remains one of the smallest distilleries in Martinique, whose heart still beats to the rhythm of its vintage steam engine, guaranteeing unmatched finesse and authenticity.
This aged vintage 2002 rum from the Depaz distillery has benefited from an exceptional aging of 11 years in small oak barrels, a delicate process that imparts deep aromas and remarkable complexity to this exceptional rum, making it a true gem with unbeatable value for money.
