RHUM JM - Very Old Rum - VSOP - 43%
The birth of JM rums begins in the heart of lush vegetation, where one of the most beautiful distilleries in Martinique stands, located at Habitation Fonds-Préville in Macouba. The first distillations date back to 1845, initiated by Jean-Marie Martin, who stamped his initials "JM" on his rums, thus giving rise to this renowned name. In 1912, the distillery passed into the hands of Ernest Crassous de Médeuil and his brother Gustave, then manager and owner of Habitation Bellevue. After many improvements, these two estates merged to become Habitation Fonds-Préville. Today, the Bernard Hayot Group is the majority shareholder through SCA Héritiers Crassous de Médeuil.
The sugar canes, cultivated across the entire Fonds-Préville estate (225 ha), benefit from an exceptional terroir: the slopes of Montagne Pelée. This unique location guarantees optimal quality of the raw material. The fermented juices are distilled in two traditional Creole copper columns, up to 72° alcohol (no more), to preserve the full natural flavors of the sugar cane in each rum. Moreover, the distillery is supplied by pure and crystalline waters from the springs of Montagne Pelée, enhancing the quality and purity of the final product.
The JM VSOP rum stands as a legendary rum, among the most prestigious vintages of the house. To achieve this excellence, every step is carried out with rigor: a pure juice of freshly pressed cane is used to obtain exceptional eaux-de-vie. These are aged for a minimum of 4 years on site, in carefully selected American bourbon barrels. This long aging gives JM VSOP rum complex, subtle, and rare aromas, meeting the expectations of connoisseurs and lovers of exceptional spirits.
