DBM – Distillerie Bonne-Mère – Rhum Vieux VO – 43%
In the heart of Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe, Distillerie Bonne-Mère continues a legacy that began in the 18th century on a former sugar estate, officially transformed into a distillery in 1863. Now part of the La Martiniquaise group, it boasts an exceptional heritage with nearly 10,000 oak casks maturing, making its cellars among the most impressive in the Caribbean. The creation of the DBM brand in 2024 marked a new chapter, allowing the distillery to showcase its own rums directly on the international stage.
The Rhum Vieux VO, bottled at 43%, results from a precise blend of rums aged for several years in oak casks. An ideal introduction to the DBM universe, it combines accessibility and refinement, already revealing remarkable aromatic depth. Roundness, balance, and authenticity define this cuvée, designed to appeal to both curious newcomers and seasoned connoisseurs.
Its bright amber robe precedes an expressive nose of vanilla, dried fruits, and melting caramel, lifted by elegant woody nuances. On the palate, the smooth and velvety texture delivers notes of honey, hazelnut, and candied fruits, balanced by a delicate spicy touch. The long, harmonious finish lingers with subtle woody and peppery notes. A generous, refined rum, perfect to enjoy neat, on ice, or as the companion to convivial moments.
