Whiskey MICHEL COUVREUR - 2008 Single Cask Whiskey - Distilled in 2008, 16 years Colheita Port Pipe from Niepoort - 50.25%
Independent bottler Michel Couvreur was originally a Burgundy wine producer and merchant. He turned to the world of whisky in 1978 and distilled for the first time in Edradour in 1986. At the time, he wanted to buy a distillery in Scotland but his wife opposed it and they decided to settle in Bouze-Lès-Beaune , halfway between Scotland and Andalusia, and to intervene in the maturation of whiskies; mainly in Sherry and Port casks. The range is very varied and meticulous work of blending, selection of new casks, unusual techniques is undertaken daily. Since his death in 2013, his son-in-law Cyril Deschamps and his wife Alexandra have continued Michel Couvreur's work.
Distilled in 2008 , this rare single malt continued its maturation for eight years in a cask that had contained Colheita Port from the prestigious Niepoort house.
Unpeated
"A remarkable single cask, in which the richness of the malt is enveloped in the noble aromas of a great Colheita. This whisky seduces with its intense mahogany color and its deep nose, dominated by dried fruits, candied fig, cocoa and woody essences. The palate, ample and structured, reveals a beautiful complexity, between the natural sweetness of the port and the intensity of aging."
