Planteray Rum - Trinidad - 2003 - 47.8% ABV
The exceptional story of Planteray (formerly Plantation) begins in 1989, when Alexandre Gabriel, an oenologist and spirits enthusiast, acquired the prestigious Maison Ferrand in Cognac. Driven by an ambitious vision and genuine passion, he assembled a team of experts and traveled the globe to build an international distribution network sharing the same values of excellence and authenticity as Maison Ferrand. During the 1990s, he undertook a decisive journey to the Caribbean, where he conceived the innovative idea of reselling certain used Cognac barrels to local rum producers, thus initiating a unique adventure in the world of terroir rums. Today, the Maison is recognized for its expertise in three major spirits: the prestigious Grande Champagne Cognac Ferrand, the artisanal French Gin Citadelle, and the Terroir Rum Planteray, which captivates connoisseurs worldwide. Additionally, Maison Ferrand owns the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados and holds significant shares in the National Rum of Jamaica (Clarendon and Long Pond distilleries), further strengthening its privileged position in the world of exceptional rums.
Vintage Collection No.3 Terravera is a rare cuvée from a rigorous selection of 40 ex-Bourbon barrels, containing the best of Trinidadian rum. This exceptional rum was meticulously column-distilled in 2003 at the renowned Trinidad Distillers Limited (TDL) distillery, using high-quality molasses. Its aging occurs in two phases: first, 19 years in a tropical climate in Trinidad, which imparts a unique aromatic richness, followed by an additional 3 years of refinement in Maison Ferrand barrels in a continental climate in Javrezac, allowing the development of complex and elegant notes characteristic of this terroir. This meticulous process offers a rum with a deep aromatic profile, ideal for discerning enthusiasts.
