Tatanka is an emblematic artisanal company from Martinique, specializing in hand-painted artworks on various surfaces. Since 1996, these works have been created by a Martinican artist who paints directly on glass in a unique naive art style. Each bottle is thus adorned with authentic scenes of life from the distillery, paying tribute to the know-how and hard work of the men and women who bring Neisson rums to life. For each special edition, three different original illustrations are offered, making each bottle a collectible item.
The Neisson Distillery is located in the heart of Carbet in Martinique. Founded in 1932 by the Neisson brothers, it has preserved a family heritage focused on excellence. Jean Neisson, a chemical engineer by training, dedicated his career to perfecting traditional distillation techniques. His descendants, Claudine and then her son Grégory, now carry this torch with passion. Since 2013, the distillery has begun a transition towards organic farming respectful of the environment, culminating in 2016 with the launch of the first organic AOC Martinique rum. Gradually, more than 40 hectares of farmland have been converted following this sustainable approach.
Thanks to years of research, Neisson now uses its own strains of indigenous yeasts, rigorously selected from those naturally present on the sugar canes grown on the estate. The attention given to the choice of crop varieties — selected for their perfect adaptation to the specific typology of each plot — combined with a precise control of irrigation to optimize water consumption, completes a process of exemplary rigor. The effective treatment of agricultural effluents perfects this holistic approach. All these commitments make Neisson an essential reference in the production of high-end agricultural rums, crafted in perfect harmony with the ecosystem and the unique biodiversity of Martinican lands.
