Armagnac Laterrade - Bas-Armagnac - 1984 - Domaine du Priou - Barrel Proof - 40.4%
Laterrade is an essential independent bottling brand, specializing in high-quality Armagnac. Vincent Laterrade, originally from Vic-Fezensac, in the heart of the Ténarèze region in Armagnac, is a former sommelier passionate about fine spirits. He discovered many small local producers and partnered with two enthusiasts to found L’Encantada, a reference offering vintage armagnacs from rare and often unknown estates to the general public. Vincent became a true expert and hunter of exceptional armagnacs, developing a prestigious collection of unique vintages. Subsequently, he allied with the Fitte family, owners of Château de Herrebouc in Vic-Fezensac. This collaboration allowed him to find exceptional barrels, with vintages aged from 10 to over 50 years. His philosophy remains authentic: to highlight vintage armagnacs from a single estate, without any alcohol reduction, blending, or manipulation, thus guaranteeing purity and preserved terroir. After the dissolution of this partnership, Vincent carefully preserved his precious stocks. Finally, he convinced Stéphane de Luze to allow him to rehabilitate an abandoned barn on the Château de Briat estate into a dedicated cellar. From now on, the barrels belong exclusively to Vincent, and his armagnacs are marketed under the sole label "Laterrade." Each step respects local know-how: the spirits come exclusively from regional producers, the bottles are blown by a local glassmaker, the labels are printed on local rag paper, the wax is French, and the boxes are made from wood sourced from sustainable French forests.
This exceptional Bas-Armagnac was distilled in 1984 at Domaine du Priou, located in Hontanx. It benefited from an extended aging of 39 years in French oak barrels, giving it aromatic richness, unique complexity, and remarkable elegance, characteristics of exceptional vintage armagnacs.
