OCTOMORE - 15.1 - 2024 Edition - 59.1%
The Bruichladdich Distillery, a historic gem located on the prestigious island of Islay in Scotland, is renowned for its exceptional Single Malt whiskies, marketed under three iconic labels: Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte, and Octomore. Additionally, the distillery also produces the famous The Botanist Gin. Founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, this distillery with a rich heritage has experienced major turning points, including a fire in 1934 and successive ownership changes until its closure in 1994. Purchased in 2000 by a group of investors led by Mark Reynier, a renowned expert notably for his Irish projects with Waterford, Bruichladdich was fully restored while preserving its unique Victorian equipment. Its production relies on an ecological process, gravity-fed and free from computerized control. Since 2012, it has been part of the prestigious Rémy Cointreau group. The distillery places great emphasis on promoting the local origin of its barley, a key factor in the quality and authenticity of its whiskies.
Within the Bruichladdich range, non-peated expressions are highlighted, while intensely peated versions are presented under the Port Charlotte labels. The Octomore series stands out with its limited editions offering the highest peat levels ever reached in the Single Malt world, catering to the most demanding and adventurous enthusiasts.
Octomore 15.1 was distilled in 2018, from the 2017 harvest of rigorously selected and locally grown Scottish Concerto barley. This exceptional whisky matured for 5 years in first-fill Bourbon casks combined with old re-toasted Bourbon casks, providing a unique aromatic complexity, blending finesse and intensity.
