HIGHLAND PARK - 12 years - 40%
Highland Park is the northernmost Single Malt distillery in Scotland, ideally located in Kirkwall, in the heart of the Orkney Islands. Its geographical position is unique, being closer to the coasts of Norway than to London, which distinctly influences the character of its whiskies.
Founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson, a multifaceted figure who combined the roles of butcher and church officer by day and smuggler by night, this distillery carries a rich history filled with legends. Surprisingly, it once fell into the hands of the officer tasked with arresting Eunson for his illegal activities, symbolizing a tumultuous era.
Highland Park is one of the few Scottish distilleries to grow and malt its own barley, a key element of its quality and authenticity. Its two "wash stills" (stills for the first distillation) and two "spirit stills" (stills for the second distillation) allow an annual production of up to 2.5 million liters, ensuring perfect control of the process.
Highland Park belongs to the prestigious Edrington group and contributes to the famous blend Famous Grouse, a blend of Scottish expertise and excellence.
The house's emblematic style is characterized by a subtle balance: slightly peated, delicately smoky, and subtly sweet, offering an unforgettable sensory experience to lovers of refined whiskies.
