HIGHLAND PARK - 18 years - 43% ABV
Highland Park is the northernmost Single Malt distillery in Scotland, ideally located in Kirkwall in the beautiful Orkney Islands. This unique location makes it a geographical gem, closer to the Norwegian coast than to London, offering a maritime influence that is reflected in the richness of its whiskies.
Founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson, a legendary figure who was both a butcher, a church official by day, and a daring smuggler by night, the distillery carries a fascinating history. Ironically, it eventually came under the control of the officer responsible for arresting him for smuggling, embodying a past rich in authentic stories.
Highland Park stands out among Scottish distilleries for its rare ability to germinate and malt its own barley, ensuring complete control over the quality of its raw materials. Its facilities include two wash stills and two spirit stills, traditional pot stills used respectively during the first and second distillations, capable of producing up to 2.5 million liters of whisky each year, symbolizing excellent craftsmanship and controlled production.
Highland Park is part of the prestigious Edrington group and is an essential ingredient in the famous Famous Grouse blend, recognized worldwide for its unique taste.
The distinctive character of the house is expressed through a slightly peated, subtly smoky, and gently sweet style, offering a complex and refined aromatic experience that appeals to the most demanding whisky enthusiasts.
