LAPHROAIG - 10 years - 40% ABV
Laphroaig is an iconic distillery located on the island of Islay in Scotland, recognized as one of the most prestigious and authentic Single Malts on the market. Known as "the most richly flavored Scottish whisky," Laphroaig captivates with its characteristically powerfully peated aromas and unique iodine character, the result of an ancestral artisanal production method. This exceptional whisky is also the only one to hold a royal warrant, granted by the Prince of Wales in 1994, a distinction that highlights its prestige and unparalleled quality.
The fascinating history of the distillery begins in 1815 with Donald and Alexander Johnston, who initially leased 250 hectares on the island of Islay for cattle breeding and barley cultivation. With a bountiful harvest and a source of peaty fresh water low in minerals, they quickly turned to whisky distillation, combining tradition and innovation. The neighboring distillery, Lagavulin, played a key role in the 19th century, buying nearly half of Laphroaig's production for its blends. However, the Johnston family chose to end this collaboration to fully develop the notoriety and unique identity of their brand. Independent until the 1960s, Laphroaig was then sold to Long John International, before joining Beam Inc. in 2011, and Beam Suntory in 2014, global leaders in spirits.
The iconic version of Laphroaig is aged 10 years, offering an intensely peated tasting experience rich in iodine notes, a signature of the Islay region and the brand.
Powerful peat (40-50 ppm) for a whisky with inimitable smoky aromas, combining complexity and balance.
