Whisky BENROMACH - Organic - 43%
Benromach is an iconic distillery from Speyside, in Scotland, founded in 1898 by the visionaries Duncan McCallum and F.W. Brickman and today proudly owned and managed by the renowned merchant Gordon and MacPhail of Elgin. Located near Forres in Morayshire, this distillery benefits from a pure water source from the Chapelton hills at Romach, which gives exceptional quality to its whiskies. Duncan McCallum, former master distiller at Glen Nevis, and F.W. Brickman, a spirits broker in Leith, Edinburgh, envisioned a distillery combining tradition and artisanal know-how. Although construction began in 1898, production only truly started in 1900. After several closures and ownership changes, including the purchase by Harvey McNair & Co in 1911, then by Associated Scottish Distilleries in 1938, Benromach was revived in 1993 thanks to Gordon and MacPhail. The distillery was modernized while retaining its soul and was officially reopened in 1998 by Charles, Prince of Wales. Since 2004, it has again produced exceptional malt whiskies, recognized for their balance and finesse.
True to the ancestral tradition of Speyside, where fires in the stills were rekindled with peat pieces when coal ran out, local Scottish barley is malted with a light peat smoke, bringing a subtle and unique touch to each expression. The richness of Benromach's character also comes from the exclusive use of new oak casks from former Bourbon or Sherry aging, which gives the whisky complex aromas and incomparable depth.
Benromach Organic, launched in 2006, is the first whisky made from organically grown barley, thus meeting the strictest criteria in sustainable agriculture. This ecological choice makes Benromach Organic a natural and responsible product, while offering a refined tasting experience to organic whisky lovers.
