ABERFELDY - 12 years - 40%
Founded in 1896 by the prestigious house John Dewar & Sons, near the charming town of Aberfeldy located in the Eastern Highlands, this iconic distillery is nestled on the south bank of the River Tay. Aberfeldy draws its crystal-clear water directly from the Pitilie Burn, a source renowned for the purity of its water, which gives its whiskies a unique and unparalleled quality. Often overlooked, Aberfeldy produces only 6,000 cases annually, even after its strategic acquisition by the giant Bacardi in 1998, a century after the start of its rich production. Since then, Bacardi has revitalized the distillery by successfully promoting the famous Dewar's "White Label," an essential reference in premium Scottish whisky, especially widely appreciated and recognized in the United States. Indeed, the main ingredient of this prestigious blend is Aberfeldy malt, highlighting its fundamental importance in the world of high-quality whisky.
In 2008, Dewar innovated with the launch of the Whisky Challenge, an ambitious marketing campaign designed to strengthen the international reputation of the White Label brand. This unprecedented challenge, set up in several strategic airports, offered travelers a blind tasting test to compare White Label with other high-end Scottish blends, thus promoting direct recognition of Aberfeldy's superior taste. Recently, the distillery has significantly increased its annual production capacity, which now reaches 3.5 million liters, demonstrating its dynamism and desire to expand in the global whisky market.
Aberfeldy's portfolio, famous for its finesse and aromatic richness, has long been limited to three major expressions: the 12 years, the prestigious 21 years, and a very rare 25-year-old edition. However, Aberfeldy is now innovating by expanding its permanent range with new exceptional Single Malts, thus strengthening its place among the most sought-after Scottish whiskies by both connoisseurs and enthusiasts seeking authenticity and refined flavors.
