Ben Nevis - Traditional Malt - 46%
The Ben Nevis distillery, founded in 1825, is one of the oldest and most prestigious Scottish distilleries. Located at the foot of Scotland's highest mountain, the famous Ben Nevis reaching 1,345 meters in altitude, it benefits from an exceptional natural setting that perfectly reflects the authenticity of traditional Scottish craftsmanship. The essential ingredients to create an exceptional whisky are carefully selected: pure water, high-quality malted barley, live yeast, and a subtle touch of peat smoke.
At the foot of Ben Nevis, two small lochans, Coire Leis and Coire na’Ciste, provide a constant source of crystal-clear water, essential for the quality of the whisky. The Scottish barley, known for its meaty and rounded texture, offers an optimal content of essential proteins, ensuring perfect fermentation. The yeast, with its unique consistency close to a firm dough, plays a key role in transforming the wort. The peated character of Ben Nevis naturally comes from the filtration of water through the surrounding peat bogs and the traditional use of peat fire during production. Since 1989, the distillery has belonged to the Japanese group Nikka Whisky Distilling, based in Tokyo, thus strengthening the link between Scottish tradition and Japanese expertise.
Ben Nevis Traditional Malt is a special edition proudly celebrating the 185 years of this emblematic distillery, offering a whisky with rich, balanced flavors and an identity marked by peat.
