Lagg - Kilmory Edition - Peated Single Malt - 46%
The Lagg Distillery is ideally located in the south of Arran Island, Scotland, a place renowned for its exceptional whiskies. Founded by the prestigious Isle of Arran Distillers group, based in Lochranza in the north of the island, this distillery specializes in peated whiskies. While the traditional Arran whisky is generally unpeated, the Lochranza distillery already produced a small amount of peated malt for its Machrie Moor expression. With the creation of the Lagg Distillery in November 2017, the full production of peated whisky was transferred to this innovative site. This distillery is dedicated to the in-depth exploration of peat aromas, using various yeast strains and barley varieties to experiment and optimize every step of the production process.
Furthermore, Lagg also stands out for its ecological and agricultural commitment, planting over 140 apple trees on its estate. This initiative allows the distillery to produce not only its own cider but also its own apple brandy, offering an authentic and local alternative rather than following the current trend of gin production in the region. The first distillate of the Lagg distillery was successfully made on March 19, 2019, at 2:35 pm, followed by the first barrel filling on April 10, an exclusive Sherry butt reserved for privileged members of the Lagg Cask Society.
Lagg Kilmory is made from the Concerto barley variety, known for its quality and exceptional aromatic contribution. This single malt has been carefully matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks, bringing rich and balanced notes that perfectly complement the peaty power of this exceptional whisky.
