The Savanna Distillery is ideally located on Réunion Island, a jewel of the Indian Ocean known for its exceptional agricultural productions. Founded between 1948 and 1950 by the visionary Emile Hugot, this traditional distillery was established in Saint Paul, initially annexed to the sugar factory of the same name. In 1982, Savanna strengthened its expertise by acquiring a distillation workshop dedicated exclusively to the production of light rums intended for export, thanks to a major supply contract with a leading German market player. This step marked a major turning point, propelling the Savanna Distillery towards innovative technological development, promoting diversification and constant improvement in the quality of its rums. Today, the Savanna Distillery exports the majority of its production to professionals and discerning enthusiasts. Like many great rum producers, it uses batch fermentation, also called the "mother tank" process, consisting of 8 fermenters of 100 m3<\/sup> each, complemented by a sophisticated network of satellites. This batch process guarantees rums of exceptional quality, rich in complex and authentic aromas.
Savanna Créol Straight is made exclusively from Bois-Rouge sugarcane, carefully harvested in 2021, offering a raw material of remarkable purity. For this batch CS.11.21, traditional fermentation is meticulously conducted over 2 days, followed by copper column distillation that enhances the natural flavors of the sugarcane. The rum then rested for 9 months in tanks, allowing optimal refinement, with an ester content measured at 267.3 gr\/hlpa, a sign of pronounced aromatic richness.
