Mount Gay Rum is proudly produced by Mount Gay Distilleries Ltd., located in Barbados, in the heart of the Caribbean. Founded in 1703, this distillery holds the prestigious title of the oldest commercial rum distillery in the world. Throughout the 20th century, it was owned by the Ward family, established in the parish of Saint Peter. Today, the Wards reside in the northernmost parish of Saint Lucia, where they operate significant agricultural lands. Since 1989, the majority shareholder of Mount Gay Distilleries has been the renowned Rémy Cointreau group.
Mount Gay rum is made from high-quality molasses and pure water, meticulously filtered through a unique natural coral. This mixture is fermented using a carefully selected yeast to ensure consistent quality, then distilled in traditional copper pot stills as well as modern column stills. Finally, the rum is carefully aged in oak barrels. To create this exceptional XO, Master Blender Trudiann Branker blended a subtle mix of pot still and column distilled rums, aged in American whiskey, Bourbon, and Cognac casks, offering an unparalleled aromatic complexity.
