SAVANNA - Grand Arôme Lontan 57 - 57%
The Savanna Distillery is located on the Island of Réunion, an exceptional terroir renowned for its unique rum traditions. This iconic distillery was designed and built by the visionary Emile Hugot between 1948 and 1950. Originally situated in Saint-Paul, it was annexed to the sugar factory of the same name, thus consolidating its direct link with the local sugarcane production. In 1982, the Savanna Distillery enhanced its expertise by acquiring a distillation workshop dedicated exclusively to the production of light rums intended for export, notably through a major contract with a leading German market player. This crucial step was the driving force behind the distillery's technological development, leading to notable diversification and continuous improvement in the quality of its rums. Today, the international professional clientele constitutes the majority of Savanna Distillery's exports, a testament to its worldwide reputation.
Like many renowned distilleries, the Savanna Distillery uses a discontinuous fermentation, also called "mother vat process," characterized by 8 large fermenters of 100 m3<\/sup> each accompanied by their satellite devices. This process guarantees the preservation of aromas and gives the rum a superior quality, a true typical signature of the house.
The Grand Arôme Lontan Rum is made from the rigorous fermentation of molasses from sugarcane sourced from the Réunion terroir, whose non-alcohol content exceeds 800 g\/HLAP (Hectoliters of Pure Alcohol) and shows a minimum ester content of 500 g\/HLAP. This unique composition ensures the rum has intense, complex, and powerful aromas, profiles sought after by connoisseurs and professionals of premium rum.
