Hampden - Rum Fire - 63%
Hampden Estate is one of the oldest and most prestigious sugar plantations in Jamaica, with a rich history dating back to 1753. At that time, the estate belonged to Mr. Archibald Stirling from Scotland. In 1779, Mr. Stirling built the famous Hampden Great House, whose ground floor served as a rum warehouse until the early 20th century. The Farquarson family then operated the estate, producing quality sugarcane and rum until 2003, when it was acquired by the Jamaica Sugar Company. This terroir is recognized for having the best sugarcane lands in Jamaica, generating the highest amount of sugar from crushed cane. Historically, Hampden rums were exclusively exported to Europe, especially England and Scotland. In 2009, Everglades Farms Ltd, owned by the Hussey family, took over the estate through a divestment operation of the Jamaica Sugar Company's assets, under the Jamaican government's guidance. Since this acquisition, Everglades Farms has invested significantly in the rum distillery, creating sustainable jobs in the Trelawny region and providing essential infrastructure to more than 17 local communities and schools.
The water used for Hampden rum production comes from an exclusive mountain water collection system, ensuring exceptional purity. Unlike many distilleries, it does not rely on underground aquifers and, after use, returns only clean, non-polluting water to the surrounding nature. Fermentation is carried out slowly, using artisanal methods, with natural yeasts that give a unique aromatic complexity. Hampden Estate is also one of the few Jamaican distilleries to favor batch distillation thanks to its four traditional pot stills, the oldest being a John Dore still of 7,560 liters, in service since 1960. The maturation of these rums takes place in a tropical climate, an intensified aging process that surpasses European methods: aged for more than 7 years under Jamaican climate, which is equivalent to about 25 years of aging in Europe. Proud of their authenticity, Hampden rums are produced, aged, and bottled without any additives — no added sugar, tannins, caramel, or glycerin — thus offering a pure and natural tasting experience.
Rum Fire is a Jamaican Pure Single rum, distilled exclusively in pot stills. With an impressive ester content between 300 and 500 grams per hectoliter of pure alcohol, it belongs to the renowned LROK category, synonymous with an exceptionally rich and powerful aromatic profile.
