MACALLAN - A Night on Earth in Scotland - 2022 Edition - 43%
Macallan is among the most renowned distilleries in Scotland and stands out for producing one of the most prestigious and globally sold Single Malt whiskies. Located on the picturesque banks of the River Spey, in the heart of the prestigious Speyside terroir, this iconic distillery spans the historic Easter Elchies estate, covering 158 hectares of excellent farmland. Among these, 37 hectares are dedicated to growing high-quality barley, an essential ingredient in crafting this exceptional whisky. In June 2018, a new ultra-modern building was inaugurated, offering visitors a unique reception space. Built on a hillside, with a spectacular wooden roof covered with grass, this place combines innovation and respect for nature.
The distillery's still house now includes 12 wash stills — copper stills dedicated to the first distillation — as well as 24 spirit stills, used during the second distillation. Historically, the distillery had 14 stills, among the smallest in Speyside, each with a capacity of 3,900 liters. These traditional stills are so emblematic that they appear on the back of the Bank of Scotland's £10 note. Macallan belongs to the prestigious Edrington group, which also owns other recognized labels such as Highland Park, as well as the blended whiskies Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark.
The characteristic style of the Macallan house is traditionally recognized for its rich, elegant, and fruity whiskies. This unique flavor signature mainly results from the exclusive use of Sherry casks for aging, imparting intense aromas and remarkable complexity to the spirit. Since 2004, the range has been enriched with the integration of Bourbon casks, bringing freshness and balance, thus enhancing the aromatic palette of this exceptional whisky.
This special edition A Night on Earth in Scotland elegantly celebrates the transition to the new year. This refined Single Malt comes from a meticulous blend of first-fill American oak ex-Bourbon casks, harmoniously combined with European and American oak casks seasoned with Sherry, to offer a deep and balanced tasting experience.
