OCTOMORE - 13.1 - 2022 Edition - 59.9%
The Bruichladdich Distillery, emblematic of the Islay terroir in Scotland, is globally recognized for its exceptional expertise in producing outstanding whiskies. It offers Single Malts under three prestigious brands: Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte, and Octomore. In addition to whiskies, the distillery also produces the famous The Botanist Gin. Founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, this distillery has endured many challenges, including a fire in 1934 and a shutdown period in 1994 following several ownership changes. In 2000, an innovative group of investors led by Mark Reynier acquired and fully restored the distillery, preserving its unique Victorian equipment. Production relies on a natural gravity-fed process without computerized control, thus offering an authentic character to each expression. Since 2012, Bruichladdich has been part of the prestigious Rémy Cointreau group. True to its philosophy, the distillery places great importance on the local origin of the barley, ensuring quality and traceability in every bottle.
The Bruichladdich range offers non-peated whiskies, while the intensely peated editions are released under the Port Charlotte label. The Octomore series stands out as the ultimate reference with the highest peat levels ever reached in a Single Malt, a true technological and gustatory challenge.
Octomore 13.1 was distilled in 2016 from Scottish Concerto barley harvested in 2015. This exceptional Single Malt was aged for 5 years in first-fill American oak barrels that previously held Bourbon, a method known to intensify aromatic richness.
