ABERLOUR - A' Bunadh - Batch 75 - Bottled in 2022 - 60.9% ABV
The prestigious Aberlour Distillery is nestled in the famous Speyside region of Scotland, precisely in the charming village of the same name, whose Gaelic name means "mouth of the babbling burn." Founded in 1879 by James Fleming, the distillery strategically chose a site offering a pure water source springing from the pink granite of Ben Rinnes, a place rich in history and recognized for its sacred connection to water. In 1898, a devastating fire destroyed the distillery, but its reconstruction, overseen by the renowned architect Charles Doig, allowed a significant capacity increase in 1974, going from 2 to 4 stills. Since 1975, the house has belonged to the Pernod Ricard group and is managed by its renowned subsidiary, Chivas Brothers.
Today, the four stills produce about 3,500,000 liters of alcohol per year. During distillation, the master distiller carefully separates the colorless new-make spirit into three fractions: the heads, the heart, and the tails. Only the central part, the heart, with remarkable aromatic finesse and delicate berry notes, is kept for the maturation of the exceptional Aberlour Single Malt. The heads and tails are reintroduced for redistillation, ensuring the purity and richness of the whisky.
A'Bunadh means "the original" in Gaelic. This expression pays tribute to Aberlour's founder, James Fleming. This whisky is matured exclusively in Oloroso Sherry casks, imparting intense and complex aromas. It is bottled at cask strength, or barrel proof, with an impressive natural alcohol level, without any dilution, thus offering an authentic and powerful tasting experience.
