Chairman's Reserve - Cuvée 1931 - Selection 2017 - 46%
Chairman’s Reserve is an exceptional rum produced by the prestigious St. Lucia Distillers Group Ltd, located on the paradisiacal island of Saint Lucia, in the heart of the Caribbean. The Barnard family, pioneers and passionate, settled permanently in Saint Lucia in the 1930s, laying the foundations of an iconic distillery by producing rum from molasses derived from the vast local sugar cane plantations. Faced with the rise of European sugar beet, the island's sugar sector declined, prompting the last two distilleries on the island to merge their expertise and resources to create the company now known as St. Lucia Distillers. Laurie Barnard revived the ancestral tradition of Saint Lucian rum by launching the exclusive Chairman’s Reserve range. Since the closure of the last sugar plantations in the 1960s, the supply of rich and flavorful molasses now comes from British Guiana, ensuring consistent and authentic quality.
Chairman's Reserve Cuvée 1931 stands as a true tribute to the artisanal philosophy and excellence of the distillery's founder, Denis Barnard. This refined blended rum combines distillates made both in pot stills and Coffey column stills, with meticulous aging of 6 to 11 years in Bourbon and Port casks, bringing richness and aromatic complexity. The majority of the blend consists of traditional molasses rums, subtly enriched by a proportion of agricole rum distilled from fresh sugar cane, offering a perfect balance between indulgence and finesse.
