The HBS rums are the authentic expression of the Martinique terroir, passionately produced by Habitation Beauséjour, located in the north of Martinique. Founded in 1883 on the historic site of an old sugar factory spanning 150 hectares, this distillery, formerly called Habitation Chambert, embodies traditional know-how passed down from generation to generation. Facing the crisis in the sugarcane market, the estate temporarily turned to banana cultivation. However, in 2020, the heir of the house, Arthur de Lucy de Fossarieu, restored the original vocation of the estate: the distillation of exceptional agricole rum.

The sugarcane, carefully replanted from 2007, is now cultivated on 70 hectares with a harmonious blend composed of 70% blue canes and 30% red and black canes, guaranteeing a unique aromatic richness. The harvest is entirely manual to ensure optimal quality, then the cane is pressed in a single pass through the traditional mill. Natural fermentation takes place in three stainless steel vats over a controlled period of 24 to 72 hours, promoting the full expression of fruity and floral aromas. Distillation is carried out in a state-of-the-art column still, equipped with 9 plates and called "L’Isabelle," allowing precise distillation that enhances the purity of the rum.

The reduction is done slowly using pure spring water directly from Montagne Pelée, with a stirring and resting process lasting 4 months, ensuring perfect harmony of flavors. The production is then evenly divided: half is kept in stainless steel vats to create refined batches of white rums, while the other half undergoes aging in oak barrels, giving depth and complexity to the rum.
