HAZELBURN - 10 years - Bourbon Cask - 46%
The Springbank Distillery is one of the last two active distilleries in the prestigious Campbeltown region, nestled on the Kintyre peninsula, southwest of Scotland. Renowned for its ancestral expertise, it produces Single Malt whiskies under three iconic brands with unique profiles: Springbank, Longrow, and Hazelburn. Founded in 1828 by brothers Archibald and Hugh Mitchell, Springbank is the 14th licensed distillery in Campbeltown. By 1934, only two distilleries remained in the region: Springbank and Glen Scotia. Still owned by the direct descendants of the founders, this distillery remains faithful to its traditional methods: from the rigorous selection of barley to artisanal malting on site, through distillation and bottling, all processes are carried out internally. This full control allows Springbank to express three distinct styles, influenced by the precise choice of casks and the exceptional microclimate of Campbeltown. The parent company, JA Mitchell & Sons, also revived the Glengyle distillery in 2004, where renowned Single Malts are produced under the Kilkerran brand. The group also owns the independent bottler Cadenhead's, known for the quality of its selections.
Hazelburn, bottled since 2005, is a Single Malt triple distilled according to Irish tradition, made exclusively from air-dried malt, ensuring unparalleled finesse and smoothness. The name "Hazelburn" pays tribute to a former Campbeltown distillery, once the largest in town, which operated between 1825 and 1925 before passing under the ownership of Mitchell & Co. from 1920. This non-peated whisky captivates with its elegant aromatic profile, dominated by notes of honey, vanilla, and fresh citrus, ideal for lovers of fine and balanced Single Malts.
